Information on Sarcoidosis

Education, support and awareness are primary missions of the Sarcoidosis Network Foundation. Because this disease attracts less attention than others, it is often difficult to obtain accurate information about it, or learn of other patients.

You will find social interaction and discussion with other patients and their supporters at our regular meetings, our annual Sarcoidosis Awareness And Education Conference, and the Foundation's Facebook page. (See the link to the right).

In an effort to make more useful information available, we try to obtain permission to publish additional information here. Some of the information found here, and elsewhere, includes personal accounts of individual patients who have chosen to share their experience with others. While such accounts are reassuring, help one to become more familar with the disease, and to learn what to expect with sarcoidosis, no one reading these should construe statements about another's case as a specific diagnosis or recommendation for their own medical treatment.

Here are some tips that can help you in being aware of how to support those affected by sarcoidosis:

• Offer to help a person or their family who is suffering from this disease - sometimes even the kindest gesture of making a meal, offering to take the children for an afternoon can make a world of difference
• Learn more about all aspects of the disease sarcoidosis
• Make a financial donation this month to your favorite nonprofit that is providing services or doing research in this area - after all is it National Sarcoidosis Awareness Month
• Offer to help a person or their family who is suffering from this disease - sometimes even the kindest gesture of making a meal, offering to take the children for an afternoon can make a world of difference
• Recognize that people suffering from this disease have a compromised immune system - stay away from them if you are ill or suffering the effects of a contagious illness; in other words, don't spread the germs!
• Share information with your doctor or medical provider so they are aware of this disease; a little information could change a life or in this case a diagnosis
• Learn more about this campaign and consider making a donation to help.
• There are many diseases in this world. Become aware of this one, its symptoms and warning signals. By simply taking the time to become educated you will be making a difference!
